Mary Scala
I was born and raised on Long Island, New York and moved to Orange County (Middletown, NY) in 1969, where I raised my family including 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy). I moved to Dutchess County in 1994 and have enjoyed living in this area very much. I am now the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren.
I graduated from Farmingdale High School and attended Nassau Community College. I resumed by education when my children were grown and graduated from Orange County Community College and then attended SUNY New Paltz majoring in Healthcare Administration.
My employment history includes: Orange County Office for the Aging, where I was the Nutrition Services Aide; Middletown Community Health Center, as the Pre-Natal Educator and Outreach Worker; Case Manager at Southwinds Retirement Home (an adult home in Middletown). After moving to Poughkeepsie I became a Caseworker at Rural Opportunities, Inc. (Section 8 Housing), where after 3years I realized I missed working with senior citizens and saw a help wanted ad for Assistant Director of RSVP. That was 10 years ago! I served as Assistant Director of RSVP for 5 ½ years and the last 4 ½ years as Director.
It has been my privilege and pleasure to be associated with such a valuable program as Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
