Hire-A-Teen Program

Hire-A-Teen is a job referral service for youth 13 - 19 years of age.

Payment for the job is decided upon between the homeowner and teen. Minimum wage is suggested as a guideline.

Work arrangements should be made prior to the work day, with all the tools and materials provided by the employer / homeowner.

Remember, you are not hiring a professional. Do not ask the teen to perform a task that requires professional expertise, or is beyond their ability.

Please be patient and be prepared to supervise.

Some Examples of Hire-A-Teen jobs are:

• Childcare, Window Washing, Snow Removal, Yard Work, Pet Care, Typing, Shopping, Stocking Shelves, Housecleaning, Gardening, Tutoring

This is a vital community program that helps our teens make constructive use of their free time, as well as becoming responsible, community-minded citizens.

This program follows all laws put forth by the New York State Department of Labor.

This program is funded by the Dutchess County Youth Bureau and Dutchess County.
